The Institutes for the Arts in Psychotherapy is a collaborative of psychotherapists and creative arts therapists who are interested in adapting the practice of psychotherapy to the new era we find ourselves in.  Electronic means of relating to one another has caused there to be a greater desire for embodiment and intimacy; grim realities of the economy, achieving status, and dangers in the world call for new and stronger forms of play and contact; and the lies and errors of privilege and power require new forms of client-therapist relationship.

The members of the Institutes have committed themselves to seeking new ways of embracing freedom and reducing our fears of other people, of impermanence, and of our own bodies.
